CELLS is a sound performance for skype and cellphones by Florian Tuercke.
18th of December 2008 at NEXUS foundation for todays art
Duration: 10 minutes
in collaboration with:
NEXUS foundation for todays art (Philadelphia, PA)
Urban Research Institute (Nuernberg)
Kunst- und Kurhaus Katana (Nuernberg)
and: Christian Weiss (cellphone / skype), Martin Fuerbringer (cellphone / skype), Philipp Moll (cellphone), Christoph Panzer (cellphone) and the audience.
CELLS was part of Intercontinental Collaborations 1 (performance series by Allison Lorenzen and Florian Tuercke).
CELLS was broadcasted live on NEXUS-radio 1650 AM
Entering NEXUS the audience was asked to give their cellphone numbers, leave their cellphones on, turn them loud and not to answer any incoming call.
The list of the phone-numbers and the CELLS score were sent to Kunst- und Kurhaus Katana (Nuernberg, Germany) via e-mail where 4 performers sat with one cellphone each.
As the performance started, the 4 performers in Nuerberg called the phones of the audience in the order of the score (see below).
The image of the performers in Nuernberg was transfered via skype to Philadelphia and projected in the gallery space of Nexus.
